The Board of Directors of Sevilla City One recently held a meeting to take stock of the past year, evaluate its achievements and set new objectives for the near future of this public-private initiative. This meeting was key in defining the roadmap for this project, which in its second year has established itself as a solid platform for the promotion and modernisation of the city and its metropolitan area as a prime investment destination, thanks to its great potential as a modern and innovative city.
The main objective for 2025 will be to continue the growth of Sevilla City One, doubling the number of member companies and involving more citizens in this innovative project. The Board of Directors stressed the importance of continuing to promote the joint work of all stakeholders, with the aim of positioning Seville as a benchmark for innovation, sustainability and urban dynamism.
In addition to taking stock of the past, the meeting was the starting point for planning various actions and projects to be carried out throughout the year, with a renewed focus on sustainability and innovation. The Association will therefore create three commissions in 2025: Seville I-City One (for innovation); Seville V-City One (for communication, ‘voices’) and Seville U-City One (for university and research).
The President of Sevilla City One, Pedro Salvador Albiñana, pointed out that ‘Seville has the opportunity to lead the change towards a more sustainable urban environment, serving as a model for other international cities. This position can attract significant investment and drive transformative projects. The projects already underway show the commitment to meet the challenge of being one of the 100 European cities that will be carbon neutral by 2030’.
Visit to Cartuja Qanat: urban innovation and sustainability in Seville
After the meeting, the Seville City One Board visited the Cartuja Qanat project, one of the most outstanding initiatives in terms of urban transformation and sustainability in the city. Cartuja Qanat is being carried out in the Cartuja Science and Technology Park (PCT Cartuja) and its main objective is to recover and revitalise the street as a social space, promoting environmental comfort and sustainable urban growth models.
This innovative project is part-funded by the European Union through the Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) programme and has a total budget of around €5 million. The visit gave the Board members the opportunity to see first-hand the progress made by Cartuja Qanat and how this initiative will contribute to improving the urban environment and quality of life for the people of Seville.
