They have signed a collaboration agreement to demonstrate their shared commitment to modernising and growing Seville, and improving first-class infrastructure such as the metro. Both entities have therefore decided to join forces to increase awareness of this demand.

This alliance reinforces the institutional projection of expanding spaces for dialogue with promoters, administrations, and other key stakeholders who are aligned with the common objective of creating a modern, functional, and structured metro network that serves territorial equity.

Pedro Salvador, the president of Sevilla City One, wished to highlight the important work carried out by Sevilla Quiere Metro in channelling and giving voice to the significant need for Seville’s growth, particularly with regard to sustainable mobility and the metro network as a whole. Seville and its metropolitan area will benefit greatly from the commissioning of new metro lines, which will promote sustainable mobility and public transport”.

Sevilla Quiere Metro states that ‘we consider it essential that each new urban development in the Seville metropolitan area should include sustainable, accessible, collective and connected transport solutions from the outset, so as to avoid perpetuating transport poverty, a phenomenon that the Ministry of Transport has already identified as one of the new key social challenges’. This agreement aligns with our primary objective of establishing a modern, functional and comprehensive metro network that promotes territorial equity.

The two entities will collaborate to promote sustainable mobility criteria in urban growth plans, share technical analyses, and highlight best practices. The agreement forms part of Seville City One’s Metropolitan Action Agenda 2035, which aims to establish Seville as a leading example of sustainable urban development in southern Europe.
