Sevilla City One was one of the organizations invited to take part in the Participatory Workshop on the Review of the Seville Metropolitan Area Transport Plan, held within the framework of the Sustainable Mobility Plan.
The event was organized by the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, in collaboration with the Territorial Delegation of the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Government of Andalusia, and the Seville Metropolitan Area Transport Consortium.
The workshop was attended by municipalities from the metropolitan area, representatives of civil society—including Sevilla City One—associations, transport operators and key territorial stakeholders. During the sessions, participants addressed the main challenges and needs of the metropolitan mobility system, as well as the priority issues that should be considered in the revision of the Seville Metropolitan Transport Plan.
At this forum, Sevilla City One presented an analytical document on the diagnosis of the Metropolitan Plan, highlighting several key challenges:
-
The need for a cohesive metropolitan cycling network.
-
A transversal and peripheral mobility model that properly structures travel between municipalities.
-
Sufficient and coherent interurban connectivity, both among metropolitan municipalities and with neighboring cities.
-
A metropolitan governance approach, as well as the limited social and communication perspective of the current strategy.
In addition, Sevilla City One presented an analysis of the Informative Study of the southern extension of Metro Line 3 of Seville (Alternative 2B). According to the conclusions shared, the project is conceived as an isolated piece of infrastructure rather than being integrated into a coordinated sustainable mobility network.
The document notes that the proposal does not address transversal mobility, does not strengthen connections between productive hubs and peripheral residential areas, and does not fully adopt a metropolitan vision. It also points out that the opportunity to turn this infrastructure into an urban, environmental and communicative catalyst is being missed, limiting the project to a strictly urban-scale intervention.
Through its participation, Sevilla City One reaffirms its commitment to innovative, efficient and sustainable metropolitan mobility, contributing well-founded proposals aimed at improving the citizen experience and promoting a more connected and balanced territorial model.
