The association Sevilla City One, Southern Metropolis, and Andalucía Aerospace have formalised a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening Sevilla’s positioning as an aerospace hub in Southern Europe.
This alliance reinforces the shared vision of both organisations: an innovative, sustainable Sevilla with the capacity to establish itself as an international benchmark through knowledge, industry, and talent.
Juan Román, Managing Director of Andalucía Aerospace, highlighted that “the Andalusian aerospace sector is a strategic driver of technological innovation, skilled employment, and sustainable development, fully aligned with the objectives of Sevilla City One to promote collaborative ecosystems among companies, institutions, and citizens.”
Currently, Sevilla’s aerospace ecosystem accounts for 85% of Andalusia’s activity. Its strategic position is reinforced by the presence of the headquarters of the Spanish Space Agency, the Aerópolis Park, the recent launch of the European Space Agency incubator (ESA BIC Andalusia), and an ecosystem of leading companies such as Airbus and Aciturri, along with numerous subcontracting SMEs.
This industrial and technological network forms a unique environment that places Sevilla in a privileged position to consolidate itself as an international reference in the sector. With this synergy, the city moves decisively towards this shared goal.
For his part, Rafael Miranda, President of Sevilla City One, stated that “incorporating Andalucía Aerospace is a key step in the initiative’s growth strategy,” emphasising that the aerospace sector is “one of the main drivers of skilled employment and entrepreneurship in our metropolis.”
The inclusion of Andalucía Aerospace brings the Sevilla City One network to more than one hundred public and private organisations, consolidating an ecosystem that integrates the main driving sectors of the local economy: real estate, legal, engineering, technological, and now also aerospace.
Boosting talent in future skills
Among the shared objectives is a strong commitment to training and upskilling young people in high-potential disciplines.
Within this framework, the aerospace cluster participates in the European project Skills4ADC+, a consortium made up of 13 entities from seven European Union countries, in which Andalucía Aerospace leads coordination of engagement with different stakeholders in the European defence ecosystem.
Its role is to identify current and future professional skill needs, helping define the capabilities that the sector will require in the coming years.
The ultimate aim of the project is to translate this analysis into training and reskilling programmes adapted to the real needs of the industry.
This strategic market insight will provide Sevilla City One with key input to strengthen talent development and the competitiveness of the aerospace sector in Sevilla, contributing to its positioning as a hub of innovation and skilled job creation.
